Meet the VA Accountancy Team

Verity

Verity began her career in accountancy in 2006, training with a small to medium-sized firm supporting clients across the UK. After a brief period working in industry, she returned to practice and founded VA Accountancy in 2015. Verity’s real passion lies in helping individuals and small businesses put the right structures and processes in place, ensuring they meet HMRC requirements while keeping record keeping practical, manageable and time-efficient.

Much of Verity’s time is spent supporting clients with tax planning, business development, accounts preparation and tax returns. She is also proud to be supported by a fantastic team within the business, enabling VA Accountancy to offer a broad range of services and deliver a friendly, reliable service to clients.

Verity completed her formal training with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and holds the FMAAT qualification, as well as certification with the Certified Public Accountants Association (CPAA). She holds practising certificates with both the AAT and CPAA, who supervise the work carried out by VA Accountancy and help ensure the business maintains the appropriate insurance, training and professional standards.

Outside of work, Verity enjoys catching up with friends and family, trips to the beach, travelling and the occasional glass of wine. Her dog, Pedro, has been part of the VA Accountancy journey since 2015 and can often be found in the office or out and about with Verity.

Vicky

Vicky joined VA Accountancy in 2022 as an Administrator, having gained her qualifications in secretarial studies back in the 90’s!  Her career has been varied working in Hong Kong and Malaysia before moving back to the UK, providing administrative and HR support for solicitors, accountants, the oil and gas industry and latterly as PA and HR Assistant in a large secondary school.  Relocating to Devon in August 2022, she feels incredibly fortunate to be working with such a great team at VA.

Vicky’s role at VA is varied but her main function is to provide ongoing support to Verity and the rest of the team on a daily basis, from being the first point of contact for clients, maintaining records, calendar management, handling client queries, streamlining administrative workflows and onboarding new clients.  Her experience in different sectors have established key skills in office management and support.

She loves living in Devon, the beautiful countryside and easy access to great beaches.  When Vicky is not working, she loves nothing more than walking her black lab Mabel around the local trails or socialising with friends and family, entertaining and travelling.

Leah

Leah joined the team at VA Accountancy as a qualified financial accountant in March 2025. Before her current role, she gained valuable experience working in both industry and accountancy practices for seven years, giving her a well-rounded understanding of business finance and accounting requirements.

Her day-to-day responsibilities include preparing annual accounts, company and personal tax returns, limited company accounts, and ensuring clients are meeting deadlines and understanding their finances.

She trained in level 3&4 AAT which she completed in June 2023. She maintains and develops her professional knowledge through ongoing training ensuring she stays up to date with the latest accounting and tax legislation.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find her on a beach walk with her cocker spaniel, Hugo, spending quality time with family and friends, or on the hunt for a next favourite restaurant!

Zack

Zack joined VA Accountancy in September 2024, having previously completed work experience with the firm in 2017. Before joining the team full-time, he spent two years at South West Water working in Regulatory Finance, where he gained valuable experience in financial analysis and reporting.

At VA Accountancy, Zack’s main responsibilities include dealing with most of the Companies House filing requirements, bookkeeping, VAT, and preparing sole trader accounts and tax returns. He enjoys working closely with clients to help keep their financial records organised and compliant.

Zack is currently coming to the end of his AAT Level 4 qualification, demonstrating his commitment to developing his knowledge and skills within the profession. He has also completed the QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification and is the office’s go-to expert for all things Dext, supporting colleagues and clients alike with the software whenever needed.

Outside of work, Zack enjoys staying active by playing football and golf. He also loves travelling and making the most of opportunities to explore new destinations on holiday.

Jago

Jago joined VA Accountancy in July 2026, bringing extensive practice experience to the team. He spent the previous five years honing his knowledge at a firm in Cornwall, including three years managing a small accountancy team, where he developed valuable expertise in statutory accounts and self-assessments.

At VA Accountancy, Jago specialises in bookkeeping and end-of-year statutory accounts. He has a keen eye for detail, finding great satisfaction in perfectly balanced books, ensuring complete financial accuracy, and proactively identifying future tax savings for his clients.

Jago is currently advancing his expertise by working toward his Level 4 AAT qualification. He is highly proficient in cloud accounting software, holding certifications as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, as well as being FreeAgent and Dext certified. Within the office, he is a highly collaborative team member who always enjoys bouncing ideas around with his colleagues.

Outside of work, Jago is a keen sea swimmer who loves spending weekends on the Cornish coast building dams with his three-year-old son. He also enjoys gaming with friends, summer camping trips, and unwinding with a cold beer at his local pub.

Just want to say thanks for your extremely professional, attentive and personalised help with my family Self Assessment tax returns. You make the complexities of tax less daunting and clearly explained. I also appreciate how readily you respond to my queries, no matter how trivial they may be to you. Thanks.

Ian
I have nothing but praise for your services. I had never used an accountant before, but I found dealing with you was easy, highly professional and at my age importantly very patient attention. I am sure my unannounced visits were a nuisance, but I was always dealt with politely and very efficiently. The projections made on tax due/ refundable were accurate and resulted in a refund. I will definitely be using your services again in 2027 and have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending your services.
